I have an old NEC monitor and when I plug in the screen to the 7500 the screen's image is all distorted. I think it is because the monitor doesn't support the 7500's resolution. It's to distorted for me to see where the mouse is going so it would be impossible to change the resolution. Is there a key combination that will change the resolution or at least open the monitors control panel. The 7500 is running system 8. I plugged in a Cetris 650 to the screen and it worked fine. The NEC monitor is VGA so I am using a VGA to Apple converter. Any help would be great. I'll try booting with extentions off, maybe that will do something? Also the Cetris 650 has its own graphics card teh 7500 is just using the one that is on the motherboard. Thanks in advance :-)

No problem swiping with one hand here.
good for you...swiping 110 slides is cumbersome, pure and simple...I'd like a button...like a real remote...

I drove by the Emeryville store at 4:30pm and the line was all the way down the block to Gap. Any update? Looking to stop by now.

But, if you liked the story, and creepy pacing and atmosphere from the first one, BS2 was not as good.
Right on the money! :)
Though, it could just be the fact that experiencing Rapture for the first time in BioShock 1 was so amazing, it was kind of impossible for BioShock 2 to live up to it. But really, it was a good game. If you find it on sale anywhere, it is still very worth playing.
It's not a matter of money, really - the game's cheap enough in most stores already. Mostly a matter of time. Though I do also find it hard to justify spending money on something, which I feel I "basically" already own. Bioshock is all the Rapture experience I need.

I would say Time Machine is convenient but it is not a viable "only" backup solution. I have lost everything 3 times using TM to a Time Capsule. This happened twice when my backup destination volume became "corrupted" and Apple blamed this on backing up over Wifi and on having my machine sleep in the middle of a backup. Well duh, if the same company wrote the OS and the backup software, I would think they could figure out how to sleep without corrupting a backup destination volume. The third time was when the Time Capsule power supply died. Apple replaced it for free but by then my lesson was learned: In short, I use a multi layered backup strategy and while Time Machine is a central part, it will never be my "only" backup.
I suggest the following...
From time to time, mount your time machine destination "sparsebundle" file using disk utility. Check it for errors. If it develops errors, don't fret simply delete it and start over. Yes, I just said you should delete your backup. This is how Apple second level support told me to handle a corrupted sparsebundle. Now you see why Time Machine will never be my only backup.
Get TimeMachineEditor.app and change TM backup schedule to once or twice daily instead of hourly. This reduces likelihood of corruption and prevents that darn thing from spinning every time you sit down at the keyboard.
From time to time, copy your Documents folder in its entirety to a firewire drive, network drive or off site backup such as crashplan, or all 3. In OSX, copying a new folder over an older version replaces the entire thing so this strategy does not give the ability to get old files back. You will be able to recover the most recent stuff you backed up but that's it.
If you subscribe to MobileMe, from time to time, grab your most important files and copy them to your iDisk.

I hope he still has the receipt from launch day (I guess he paid the $499?)...
I got mine when the priced dropped to $299 and went home and opened it (should've bought two and kept one unopened)...

Would this mean that Dell buys Apple if Jobs get in a precarious position?

I have my home dir on a separate drive. It's really easy, there's no need to create filesystem links of any such thing. There is a field in NetInfo manager which is the path to your home dir. Just change the path and then copy your dir to the new location.
You won't be able to delete your current home dir until after you reboot.
So this should work as a temporary solution to my problem.
1-Copy my user file off of my powerbook to a FW drive
2-Send my PB in for repair
3-Add a new user on my friends mac
4-go into NetInfo Manager and redirect my location to my FW Drive
5-When PB gets back, copy user folder back to PB.
Will that work?

Both BOINC and SETI servers will be going offline for 24 hours starting at 3PM EST,12 noon PST. Both are located on the Berkley campus in California. Berkley is upgrading parts of the campus power grid and both server sets are in the same building and the building will have its power cut.

So I have been trying to find an original, not a reproduction of an apple store shirt and I hadn't been able to find them anywhere. Every time I have gone to the store and asked an employe they have always told me that they don't sell them. Yesterday I did my usual rounds on craigslist and I came across someone that either is an ex employ or knows an ex employ because they had a whole bunch of different original Apple store tee shirts for sale! I already Bought a few! but they still have plenty of shirts available and I thought I would pass along this news since I know that just like me there are people that would do anything for an original apple shirt. You can buy Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 for $99, possibly less.
You can buy OEM for $99, although technically its only supposed to be purchased with new systems. Just purchased it yesterday for bootcamp.. That one I did read.
OEM also has no support and is bound to a single system board.

What can I say. You convinced me. I am sorry I ever doubted you. Please say more, I can't wait for your pearls of wisdom and amazing writing.
Also I would like to follow your carrier as an architect. You seem to have amazing ideas that would be very intriguing to use in the real world.
I am sorry I did not realize you were a Director of Promotion and Marketing, that indeed is an important position. However, I wonder if you meant to say Director of Public Relations and Marketing, because Promotions is usually handled by Human Resources - but of course you know your title better, I should not ask.
Cheers,
Have a great day.

Most of our new Dell towers come with BTX motherboards. They're so much better than ATX ones. I love the airflow and layout.

Can an Irishman join in the Canadian music lovefest?
I'll throw Ohbijou, Great Lake Swimmers and the Weakerthans into the mix.
Nice. I forgot about those...... also Wintersleep, Cuff The Duke, and Sunset Rubdown.
And, um... Barenaked Ladies.
Well, if you're going to throw kids music into the mix, then don't forget Sharon, Lois, and Bram.

IMO, AVI is a stupid idea - having a container format that can use just about any codec is bound to cause confusion.
Yeah, I'm glad the QuickTime format is nothing like that...
